Glucose tolerance test
The full timed glucose test at home, including the timed draws your doctor ordered.
The nurse stays with you for the whole test: a baseline draw, the glucose drink, and each timed draw your order requires. Common during pregnancy and for diabetes screening.
How to prepare
- Fast as instructed by your doctor (usually 8–12 hours for the 2- and 3-hour tests).
- Stay seated and avoid eating, smoking, or exercising during the test.
- Have your doctor's order and the glucose drink if your doctor provided one.
